• Hardship assistance

The Student Assistance Programme is designed to help distance students whose studies are threatened by economic hardship.

The criteria for awards revolve around the hardship being unforeseen and having a negative impact on study. Awards range in value up to a maximum of $500 depending on circumstance. A maximum of two awards are allowed per annum.

The total value of hardship grants has risen significantly in recent years due to the Extramural Students’ Society bringing the increasing hardship of students to light. Massey University is the sponsor of this service.
