Massey University Extramural Students’ Society (EXMSS) invites all extramural students to contribute to ‘Beyond The Walls’, an annual exhibition celebrating extramural creativity and talents.
The exhibition is to be displayed in Palmerston North’s Square Edge art gallery, and will run from the 10th – 16th of May throughout graduation week. In addition, selected pieces will be displayed at the annual EXMSS Graduation Dinner, which will take place on Thursday the 13th of May at the historic Wharerata house, located on Massey’s Turitea campus, Palmerston North.
Last year’s exhibition was wildly successful, and we have high hopes for this year’s event. Video footage from 2009 can be watch on Youtube here, while photos can be viewed on Picasa here.
EXMSS is receiving submissions now. Eligible work includes any original piece completed in the last 12 months. Work submitted digitally will be displayed online only.

Graduation Dinner
A highlight of the Massey calendar is the annual graduation dinner, organised by EXMSS. In May every year, extramurals, their families and supporters gather to celebrate graduation.
In 2009, this event was held in the Wharerata Dining rooms. Over a three-course meal, extramurals recounted the highs and lows of working towards their degrees, alongside displays of artwork by fellow extramural students, live music and guest speaker: Sue Foley.
