Avatar upload should now be fixed! if you try to upload an avatar and cannot crop then please let us know.
Cropping still shows an incorrect thumbnail but if you ignore that it works fine.

Wire – Each member's wire is indeed much like a Facebook wall/status, but how you use is really a matter of personal preference.
Obvious uses for a wire are keeping people informed with status updates and general notes of interest, or as you've seen notes being left for you publicly.
