So what is that new BuddyPress line at the top of the page?
As part of our ongoing development of the Massey University Extramural Students’ Society (EXMSS) website we have recently upgraded our wordpress-based site to wordpress multi-user (WPMU). This upgrade means we can now offer BuddyPress to extramurals students who would like to get in touch with others who are studying from a distance.
An Overview
BuddyPress is an open source programme (like WPMU) which is constantly being developed and upgraded by the community of programmers who use it. BuddyPress works a bit like Facebook – you can sign in, find friends, join or set up groups, post to your wall (the wire) and interact with other extramurals.
Features include
- private messaging
- friends
- groups
- the wire
- activity streams
- along with the potential for blog tracking and forums.
